The Arecibo Observatory is one of the largest radio telescopes in the world. It is about 305 meters (1,000 feet) in diameter, and it is used by over two hundred scientists every year for research projects. It is considered one of the greatest assets in the field of astronomical science to date.
The immensity of the dish is quite overwhelming and incredible. The observatory also has a museum referred to as the “Visitor’s Center”, where all visitors may partake in educational and interactive astronomical and engineering exhibits.
Since cars aren’t allowed past a certain point of the entrance to the observatory, the visitors must walk uphill towards the observatory’s location and it is quite a steep climb, so bring water and refreshments.
The gift shop offers a variety of fantastic scientific items available for purchase. Even if you’re not a person who has much interest in science, it is one of those wonders of the world you can’t miss while you’re in Puerto Rico.
