The Arie Weiss Home, a beautiful building on the corner of Herzl and Ahad Ha’am originally belonged to Akiva Aryeh Weiss, the founding father of Tel Aviv and the first chairman of Ahuzat Bait.
Construction started in 1909 and ended in 1910. Weiss designed the house himself in an Israeli country style, using bricks made in a Jewish factory (Tarver) in Jaffa. Initially, it was a one-story house. In 1927 he added another floor. Akiva Arie Weiss moved to the second floor and the ground floor was converted to a commercial level.
