Bjelovar is the youngest city in Croatia, founded in 1756, by decision of the Empress Maria Theresa. The planning was built as a training ground and the administrative center Border Infantry Regiment. It has a geometric layout of streets in the city center.
Bjelovar Park won the award for the most beautiful park in the continental Croatian. In the middle of the park is a music pavilion of white marble, the biggest stone music pavilion in the world. It has many species of trees and shrubs. Most of them are wild chestnut. In the park are occasionally held various events, such as the summer festival Terezijana, the second weekend in June. On the east side of Park is Bjelovar Cathedral.
