Church of St. Nicholas is the largest Orthodox church in Sremski Karlovci, located in the very center of town.
It is built in 1762., with a semicircular apse and two high baroque bell towers.
The nave of the temple is one of the finest examples of architecture of the eighteenth century in Vojvodina. The iconostasis is considered for a masterpiece of Serbian baroque painting. It was rebuilt after the great fire of 1799., and major changes on the facade were performed in 1909. when some elements of neoclassicism are added. In altar area, a part of the relics of St. Arsenius of Srem (the second Serbian archbishop) are kept. The church got its present appearance after reconstruction in 1910.
