Eilean Donan or Eilean Donnain in Scottish Gaelic, is a tidal island in the western Highlands of Scotland. A footbridge connects to the island and one can visit the castle that has made the island so picturesque. The island was named after Donnán of Eigg, a Celtic saint.


Eilean Donan is one of the most iconic landmarks of Scotland and the castle is often regarded as the most beautiful in Scotland. Three lochs meet in the exact point where the island is located.
