Located in the depths of the Tarahumara Sierra in the northern state of Chihuahua, the Valle de los Monjes (Valley of the Monks) offers a heart-stirring scenery with a vast number of odd rock formations that were formed millions of years ago and resemble the shapes of monks, hence the name. Close to the valley lives a native, isolated tribe that is not governed by Mexico but instead, they have their own and they cannot read of write, they speak their own language and to date, still live by their means and traditions.
Legend has it that the rocks were chosen to be in the world the day it was created. Scientifically, they were created roughly twenty million years ago due to the movement of the tectonic plates in the area.
Hiking, cycling and rappel are just some of the few activities you can enjoy during your visit to the Valle de los Monjes, a true gift from nature and a view you will not forget anytime soon.
