Historical Museum of Serbia during decades of existence has grown into a reputable and recognizable public institution of national importance with an important cultural, historical and educational role. It is a museum of complex type that has the task to safeguard the public and communicates with national and historical heritage. It was founded in 1963. More than 35,000 items, arranged in 25 collections and funds, provide insight not only in the political and military but also in social and cultural history of Serbia, the Serbian people and other cultures since the migration of Slavs in the Balkans to modern times. Museum every year has interesting thematic exhibitions.
