The Theatre and Concert Hall or Cultural Centre in Lendava is one of the most unusual attractions in this small town. It was designed by a famous Hungarian architect, Imre Makovecz. It has been the main topic of many conversations since it was built in 2004.
This main event hall, which hosts most of the cultural events in Lendava got a lot of attention because of its unusual design – a rounded roof with numerous tower-like additions and its big glass facade. It is quite different from any other building in this town or anywhere in the surrounding and it is clear why it became the most recognisable symbol of Lendava.
It is not just the exterior that draws attention. The construction of the Theatre and Concert Hall is made completely from organic materials such as wood and the hall was built with a special feel for surrounding nature.
The interior of the Theatre and Concert Hall is divided into two parts: a café and a huge lobby are located in the ground floor, right next to the entrance. The lobby is decorated with numerous statues from a famous artist: Ferenc Király, who was native to Lendava. Behind the lobby is a huge concert hall with 444 seats that are mostly booked during the main event season.
The theatre and concert hall are surrounded by a park and an interesting square, which give the additional feel of tranquillity and peacefulness. All of these factors were the reasons that the Hall became one of the most popular gathering points for locals and tourists.
Theatre and Concert Hall is located at the main square in Lendava. It cannot be reached by car, but it is easily accessible by foot.
