The Marienplatz of Munich, known as the Ste-Mary’s square, has been the main square and marketplace of Munich ever since 1158.
The beautiful view of the New City Hall is prominent in the square. One of its interesting features is the impressive Rathaus-Glockenspiel in the tower that chimes and plays stories from the 16th century, every day at 11 am (it will also play at noon and 5 pm during the summer).
A lovely Marian column is erected in the middle of the Marienplatz. The square is a pedestrian zone and there are many shops, coffee shops, restaurant, as well as other attractions around it.
