Museo de los Pintores Oaxaqueños (“Museum of Oaxacan Painters”) was founded with the goal of promoting plastic and graphic arts created by natives of the state of Oaxaca in Southern Mexico. In fact, the state of Oaxaca is the area where most of Mexico’s visual artist come from and this can be due to the fact that the entity’s government makes an effort to promote it.
The museum showcases artworks created by Oaxacans, both modern works as well as many that date back to the 16th century.
In addition, the building that homes the museum is breathtaking with a Colonial style, and a lot of history behind it. It is located in a gorgeous location right in the center of the city of Oaxaca with a gorgeous garden for you to take a break.
Even though the museum’s name attributes to painters, any kind of artistic movement is welcome and the museum hosts concerts, lectures, workshops and more.
