This Zoological museum was established the same year as the University of Zürich in 1833, but didn’t officially open until 1914. It’s currently one of the most popular museums in Zürich, boasting a vast collection of over 1,500 animal exhibits that started in the 17th century.
It’s unique architectural design was thanks to Karl Moser (1860-1936), who originally designed the museum, and Ernst Gisel (1922-present), who helped created more space for the museum 70 years later.
The museum offers many educational ideas and programs for kids and groups, as well as guided tours. They hold special events and you can even hold a birthday party at the museum for your child. You can find more information about these if you follow the link to their website.
If you happen to be touring Zürich while visiting Switzerland, stop by the Museum Paläontologische Sammlung at the University! It’s free, and you can stay as long as you like, within their house of operation of course.
