This Nature Park was declared in 1981, with an area of 195.5 km2. It includes mountain Biokovo. The highest peak of the park Sveti Jure with 1762 meters above sea level is also the highest peak of the mountain slope and the third highest peak in Croatia. Within the park there is a Botanical garden, which was founded by Jure Radic, and also large castle walls. Biokovo stands out for prominent karst formations. In the area, there are a large number of caves and sinkholes. Here are many endemic plant and animal species and significant paleontological sites. With beautiful landscapes and views, the park also contains a special geomorphological reserves and special reserves of forest vegetation of beech and fir forests and indigenous Dalmatian black pine.
