A magical natural pool surrounded by the green forest of Ometepe Island

Ojo de Agua, Isla de Ometepe, Nicaragua
The entrance fee are $3 or 80 Cordobas.

The natural pool Ojo de Agua is a magical place located on Ometepe Island. You find it, where the isthmus connects the two volcanic islands, close to Playa Domingo. The pools are fed with crystal clear water from the underground river ‘Río Buen Suceso’, which comes from the Maderas volcano. The water in the pools gets renewed constantly from the stream which emerges from the button of the upper pool. The water contains magnesium, phosphor, calcium and sulfur, which has some natural medical healing qualities for your body and your skin.

You can enjoy a swim in the 40 meter long pool or risk a jump, as the water is almost 2 meter deep. On the left hand side there is even a swing hanging from the trees, from where you can show off your daring jumps. Ojo de Agua is also the perfect place to relax and cool off after a day in the sun or after an volcano hike. There are sun chairs and hammocks to have a short nap or to read your favourite book. As the pool is located in the forest, you will also find enough shady areas under the green bushes and palm trees.

It is a famous destination for international, national and local visitors alike. Over the last years it has been expanded and nowadays you will find restrooms, showers and changing rooms. The area Ojo de Agua also includes a restaurant where you can order a snack or something to drink. However, you can also bring your own picnic. As it has become a known attraction on Ometepe, it can get crowded and noisy sometimes, so avoid going there during holidays or the weekend.
