Krk is the administrative center of the second largest Adriatic island of the same name. Krk Cathedral dominates the skyline of the city of Krk, was built on an elevated section that dominates the entire bay. Next to the cathedral there were more sacred objects, the most famous of them is a double church of Sts. Quirinus and St. Margarete. Volsonis archaeological site reveals more than two thousand years old history of the town of Krk. It’s named after the Roman tombstone of Decurionale Volsona (urban senators, one of the leading officials in the administration of cities), which was found at the excavation site. Krk town has the third largest walls in Croatia, after Ston and Dubrovnik. The walls date from the Illyrian (pre-Roman) era, and were renovated and reconstructed over several millennia, but more or less at the same places
