Lovran is a town and municipality in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, on the eastern coast of the peninsula of Istria. Lovran was named after the laurel, which grows wild in abundance in the surrounding area. The last one hundred years Lovran turned to tourism, first as a winter resort and spa of high circles of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and today as a vacation spot that attracts tourists throughout the year. From the start of tourism derives a range of beautiful art nouveau villas, which were built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the coastal strip north and south of the old town, and some of which are among the top architectural heritage.
