If you are staying in Slovenia, Bohinj is a place that is a must-see during your stay. This trip plan is for all of those who would like to visit Bohinj and don’t have the whole day to stay there. This visit will take you just 3-4 hours in total and you will have the chance to experience at least a bit of true Bohinj.
During a car ride towards Bohinj, you can already see its natural beauty, which will take your breath away; deep gorges, timid animals and luxurious alpine flowers, impressive creations of nature and majestic natural phenomena.
When you arrive in Bohinj you will see just in front of you the biggest natural lake in Slovenia, named Bohinjsko jezero. Here just take a moment to enjoy this natural beauty, peaceful silence, and unspoiled nature. If you would like to take a walk around the lake, it will take you approximately 2 hours. So when you finish with admiration of this natural beauty, just stick to the left side of the road and in about 10-20 minutes on the left side, you will see the event space named Pod Skalco.
For all climbing fans, and also for those who just want to become climbers, there is a natural climbing wall of 25m. Climbing directions are easy and, therefore, suitable for beginners, school groups, and families.
On the picnic area Pod Skalco they are organizing picnics, for which they can also arrange sport and fun games for children and adults; volleyball, bowling, football, etc. Just check their schedule for events on their website or book a private picnic.
The guest house Pod Skalco, which is on the upper level of this event space, is offering delicious local food for every taste; grilled meat and trout, pizzas, salads, ice cream, cakes, etc. In the summer, on weekends, they also organize live music.
For closed groups they can also organize some additional activities like fishing, paragliding, cycling, cannoning, archery, drive on a lake with rowing boat, canoe or kayak, rafting and many more activities depending on the requirements and seasons.
This place is open from April to October and it’s really worth of visit.
By car:
Drive towards Bled and then just follow the signs for Bohinj or Bohinjsko jezero.
By train:
Direction Bohinjska Bistrica and in Bohinjska Bistrica just take a bus to Ribčev Laz.
By bus:
Direction Jesenice or Ljubljana to Bled - Bohinjska Bistrica - Ribčev Laz.
