Rope Street in Brasov is so famous due to the fact that it is among the narrowest streets in Europe. Actually, a Top 3 Narrowest Streets in Europe includes it alongside Parliament St., Exeter, England and Spreuerhofstraße in Baden – Wurttemberg, Germany.

Its attestation dates back in the 17th century when it was used as a corridor for firemen. The name of the street in German is Fadengasse. The reason why all attractions have a German name is due to the dense Germanic population back in the days.

The street is among the first urban constructions in Brasov. It is 80 m long and has a width that varies from 111 cm to 135 cm. The passage connects two places: Schei Gate and Cerbului St.

Nowadays the street is a place visited by tourists and loved by photographers.

How to get there

It is 2 minutes away from The Black Church; you can reach it from Schei St. or Cerbului St. as the street links the two of them.
