Savica Waterfall is one of the most popular and amazing waterfalls in Slovenia. It is located in the Triglav Natural Park, close to Lake Bohinj. Stunning nature, magnificent water, and numerous arranged routes attract visitors from around the world.
River Savica falls from the elevation of almost 900 meters and the waterfall is about 80 meters high. Clear blue water falling down against gray rocks is a really unique view, even more, if we take into account the relaxing surrounding nature and the nice cold breeze, which cool us down on hot summer days.
Savica Waterfall is usually visited by the people who stay in Triglav Nature Park and they usually reach it by car or by walking from the Lake Bohinj. If you decide to walk from the lake, start your way at the camp Zlatorog and follow the signs.
A nice forest path will lead you through dark green forests, colorful meadows, and a bit steeper parts and you will reach the Dom Savica (hut) in about 1.5 hours.
Dom Savica is a quite a big hut, with a restaurant, huge parking lot and cute souvenir shop. Another 30-minute walk mostly on a stairway route leads to the wooden pavilion and the main tourist point at the Savica Waterfall.
Dom Savica is also a great starting point for other hikes into the Triglav Nature Park, for example to the Triglav Lake Valley. You will find all the information about possible tours and different directions into the Park at the Dom Savica.
You can take a walk from the Lake Bohinj or drive to the parking lot at the Savica hut. Beautiful stairways lead from the parking lot to the waterfall.
Regular buses drive from the Bohinj lake to the Savica waterfall in the summer.
