Silvaplana is a tiny municipality in Switzerland in the district of Maloja, mostly known for its quaint essence, its gorgeous backgrounds lined with mountains and the vast lake of the same name. The first settlement known to be here dates back to the Roman era and it was first mentioned in 1356. Silvaplana is located close to the more popular city of Saint Mortiz.
As mentioned above, the main attraction its the turquoise lake, popular for visitors and locals alike who enjoy windsurfing, kitesurfing and sailing.
Silvaplana gained popularity when in 2007, a sailing World Championship took place here.
