The Strmol castle lies at the edge of the Dvorjanski hrib (Hill), near Cerklje na Gorenjskem. In the 13th century, it was home to the Strmol Knights who gave the name to the fort which was kept although the fort itself often changed owners.
Throughout the turbulent centuries, the Strmol Castle preserved its original form and is, therefore, one of the oldest and best-preserved castles in Slovenia – here you will find the original furnishings of the last private castle owners, Rado and Ksenija Hribar.
The Hribar’s enjoyed the best period of their life together at Strmol Castle where they furnished their home with a cosmopolitan touch, filling it with a rich collection of works of art and collectibles of exceptional value.
It was here where they created a place for socializing and gathering of the Slovenian and European aristocracy of that time. Their story was also described in the novel by Drago Jančar “I Saw Her That Night” which received many awards.
To its guests, the Strmol Castle conjures up a picture of life from past centuries, while at the same time it offers all the present-day comforts. The original ambient makes an impression on every visitor, therefore you can organize different types of events here – ranging from business meetings, formal dinners, wine tastings, cultural events to smaller congresses and lectures. For the latter, you can use the Strmol Castle Congress Manor House.
All the events will be enhanced by an exceptional culinary experience tailored to your wishes with your plates boasting masterpieces from the skillful hands of the Brdo chefs who acquired their rich experience in cooking for protocol events.

The café is open every day between 7:00 and 21:00.
