Tamapzulapam, officially called “Tamazulapam del Progreso” is a small town in the state of Oaxaca in southern Mexico mostly famous for its gorgeous natural pools of water.
Ten minutes away from the main village is Piedra de Agua, an eco touristic center in the middle of pure nature, perfect for those who love outdoors activities and also a great place to spend the night as there are cabins available as well as camping grounds. In total, there are three pools located on the site, which is open daily from 9:00 – 17:00. The biggest one measures 50 x 25 meters and is 4 meters deep. Two other smaller ones are located on the site and are as equally gorgeous.
In the center of the village, you’ll find a church called Parroquia Santa Maria Natividad, built in a Barroque style in the 16th century. The center is a great place to stroll around and be surrounded by tall trees. While here, make sure to try the traditional ice cream that is sold in almost every corner.
