Naravni spomenik Dolina Triglavskih jezer
Slovenia
Mountain hut at the lakes offers local dishes.

Triglav Lakes Valley is one of the most picturesque parts of Triglav National Park, and really quite an amazing scenery of clear blue water, green forests and white mountain`s tops.

Lakes of the Triglav Lakes Valley were created at the same time as the Julian Alps, when the moving of tectonic plates began, creating mountains and valley in this part of Slovenia. The Triglav Lake Valley is now more than 8 km long, and it has a lot of lakes, but seven of them are larger and really worth visiting.

Lakes and the nature around them are really unique and you can expect to come across creatures you have never seen before. Try to find your own fossils hidden in the rocks around the lakes, try to guess the names of birds flying around you and do not forget to smell all the colorful flowers.

Triglav Lakes Valley offers great inside into the changes of nature that happen in this high elevation. The highest lake is located at 1993 meters and it is named Lake under Vršac. This is mainly frozen during most of the year and you will see the nature here is quite different than nature at the lowest lake, located at the high of 1319 meters. The lowest lake in Triglav Lakes Valley is called the Black Lake.
