The Best Beaches In Mexico According To Mexicans

Well experienced travelers know that the best recommendations are those that come from locals. Locals, more often than not, know their lands well and why not ask them directly what they think the best places are? We did a small survey and asked Mexicans themselves where the best beaches are and this is what they recommended:

Santa Fe in Tulum

State: Quintana Roo

Santa Fe is a beach located south to the famous Ruins of Tulum and is a great place to experience the Caribbean in its full splendor. With crystal clear waters, white sand beaches and more, you’ll be able to relax here after discovering the ruins. This beach is also the ideal place to camp in Tulum.

Zipolite

State: Oaxaca

Zipolite is known for being one of the few nudist beaches in Mexico and for its hippie vibe (in fact, this was one of the places the hippies flocked to in the 60’s). Since then, it has maintained its hippie status with rustic cabins lining the beach as well as camp grounds, the music from the 60’s coming from everywhere and the use of marijuana being tolerated here.

Mazunte

State: Oaxaca

Mazunte is a gorgeous beach in southern Mexico most famous for its turtles. The beach has gained popularity and if you are into less crowded places, you can head to other smaller and mostly virgin beaches nearby.

Mayto

State: Jalisco

Mayto is a tiny beach located south of the crowded tourist hub that is Puerto Vallarta. Head here to avoid the crowds and find relaxation and quietness.

Maruata

State: Michoacán

Maruata reminds us of the movie “The Beach”. Surrounded by a hilly landscape, this beach remains quite unknown and was first heard of and written about after a world traveller who searched for undiscovered places talked about it.

Holbox Island

State: Quintana Roo

Holbox Island is a tiny piece of land located off the coast of Quintana Roo where you won’t find any cars. It is perfect for those who love birdwatching as many species, including flamingoes, like to spend their time here. It is also the ideal spot to swim with whale sharks.

Chacahua

State: Oaxaca

Chacahua is a national park in Oaxaca that encompasses five lagoons, five rural villages and endless coastlines. In the park, you’ll be able to spot crocodiles, turtles and more!

Punta Allen

State: Quinta Roo

Punta Allen marks the southernmost point of the Riviera Maya. It is located in the Sian Ka’an Biosphere on a tiny strip of land between oceans and it remains quite unspoiled.
