Kiev is the largest Ukrainian metropolis, which never sleeps. Although there are many unsafe and uninteresting places in the city, we recommend you those, which offer you a lot of fun, relaxation, and enjoyment after sunset. Keep these attractions in mind when planning your next trip to Kiev.
1. Walk Along the Andriyivskyy Descent
The Andriyivskyy Descent is a winding road, which became a symbol of the capital. It used to be full of vendors selling souvenirs and traditional clothing in the daytime. Still, there are museums, a theater and the other attractions along the street.
The Andriyivskyy Descent starts from St Andrew Church, which is especially beautiful at night thanks to the colorful illumination.
2. Meet Sunrise in the Park of Eternal Glory
The Park of Eternal Glory in Kiev is a vast territory with historical monuments dedicated to the World War II. This place is natural, peaceful and quiet. However, there are not so many things to see at night. If you want to visit the museum of the military vehicles, come there in the morning.
This park is one of the beloved places among the locals to meet sunset there. Around the park, you can visit many observation spots overlooking the other side of the river Dnipro.
3. Taste Delicious Ukrainian Cuisine
There are many round-the-clock restaurants around the capital where you have a chance to taste the traditional Ukrainian dishes, such as borshch with garlic and pork, pancakes made of cottage cheese and potato, stuffed cabbage rolls, refreshing soup. Also, there are a variety of dumplings – with meat, cabbage, mushrooms, potatoes, cherries, etc.
There are plenty of overnight restaurants in Kiev. However, the most famous are “11 Mirrors”, “Under Wonder,” “Public Cafe” and many others.
4. Drink Vodka in a Bar
As homemade vodka is a traditional Ukrainian alcoholic drink, the overnight drinking tour can be your guide to the local culture. No wonder, you can find plenty of bars where you can taste kraft beer, whiskey, and many different cocktails together with vodka. Moreover, there are many salted and sweet snacks.
When it comes to bars, pay attention to the following places – Koko Bar, Mumubar, Hashtag Bar, Parovoz Speak Easy and others.
5. Go To The Cinema
There are 5 cinemas in Kiev, which present films in English. They are located in the major shopping centers like ‘Skymall’, ‘Komod’, SEC ‘Atmosphere’, ‘Prospect’ and ‘Karavan’. Despite the different schedule of work, each cinema has night sessions. Also, there is a promo “Late Cinema,” which allows visiting any movie after 11 pm for 35 UAH only ($1,2).
6. Go to the Latin Dance Party in The Latin House
If you are a big fan of dancing, don’t hesitate to visit the Latin House in Buena Vista.
Here you can eat, drink and dance with the Latin American music, which is usually performed from 8 pm to 1 am.
Also, you have a chance to visit one of the dance workshops, which regularly take place there. Even if you don’t know how to dance, you can enjoy the festive spirit and learn a couple of dance movements during one night.
7. Enjoy the River Cruise
If you are in Kiev during the warm season, you can go on an evening tour along the Dnipro river, which begins at 9-30 pm at the River Station. It includes a two-hour cruise on the modern three-deck motor ship “Rosa Victoria.”
Also, you will have an exciting program, which includes an excursion together with a Ukrainian show performed by the laureates of international music competitions. Champagne and fruits will be offered for your pleasurable stay on the boat.
8. Walk Along the Obolon Embankment
You surely don’t want to see only the center of Kiev but also the neighborhood. Visit the Obolon District. It is an elite neighborhood Obolonsky Lypky with marvelous Obolonska Embankment. It is one of the most favorite places for walking in Kiev.
The embankment is pleasurable and quite, as it is not in the very center. There you can walk and relax in one of the restaurants, which are working until the last visitor.
9. Play Games in the Time Cafe
If you are looking for a fun young company, spend a night in the time cafe “Bergamot”, which works round-the-clock. You can do anything there: read, work on the Internet, watch movies, drink tea or coffee with sweets, play mafia and board games. This place involves board games enthusiasts from all around the capital. Never hesitate to visit the cafe if you are one of them.
10. Visit the Bridge to Truhanov Island
The pedestrian bridge to the Truhanov Island is a landmark by itself. At night, it is lit by bright lights and looks beautiful from the embankment. You can get there by walking from Poshtova Square along the Embankment Highway or going down from the Friendship Arch. In the summer you can go to Trukhanov Island and swim under the stars, and in the morning you will meet the beautiful dawn.
