20 Safest Airlines in the World

Many people like to travel by air, but others have a fear of flying. Sad events that happened in 2015 make such travelers even more nervous. We understand these worries, so for those who wish to be sure that the flight will be conducted the best way to protect passengers, we are publishing this list of 20 world’s safest airlines (based on research of airlineratings.com that was made in the end of 2015).

What does this rating mean?

Every airline can gain maximum 7 stars. Examples of safety rating norms are:

  • does the airline have the IATA (International Air Transport Association) certificate?
  • was the airline’s fleet grounded at any point by the NAA (National Aviation Authority) as the result of safety concerns?
  • did the airline have any fatalities* in the last 10 years?

* A fatality means the death of crew and/or passengers because of an accident aboard the airplane. If deaths happened as a result of terrorism, hijackings or pilot’s suicide, they are not included in the rating.
