Balingen is the capital town of Zollernalbkreis, located 60 kilometeres southwest of Stuttgart in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany.
Balingen enjoys a long and old history, it was first mentioned in 863. In the 13th century Friedrich der Erlauchte declared Belingen a city but it was destroyed by a fire in 1809. Only the Protestant Church, the castle and a few other buildings remained unharmed.
The Church was built in 1541 and the castle was reconstructed in 1935. In the year 1870, Balingen officially become part of Germany.
