Lovrečina Grad was first mentioned in 1540. It’s a castle which is located only 4 km from Vrbovec. As you can imagine, a place as old as this one has a rich and really interesting history. It played a huge role in the defence against the Ottoman Empire.
The building itself is beautiful. It has a U shape, it was renovated in the 19th century, and it still looks amazing! Today it’s occupied by the Sisters of Mercy.
The castle has a park behind, so if you feel like checking it out, feel free to do so! It’s truly lovely, especially through spring and summer! They have small benckes as well, so you can even sit down and just relax for a while.
There’s no tickets or any kind of payment; it’s completely free. Also, the alltogether “vibe” of the place is really peaceful and quiet. If you need some time for yourself and you want to enjoy some nice time alone, or just need a relaxing walk, you will love this place.
You can visit the castle every day, but on weekdays you have to let them know that you’d like to go and see them.
