Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb was officially opened as theater building on October 14, 1895, for about 750 spectators in which today operates Croatian National Theatre. The neo-baroque building of the theater is a masterpiece of late historicism by Austrian architect Ferdinand Fellner and German architect Hermann Helmer. At the entrance of the building, is located beautiful Fountain of Life, the work of Croatian sculptor Ivan Mestrovic in 1905, and was set in 1912. Many of the best Croatian artists worked in the National Theatre. Program of the National Theatre consists of three artistic ensembles: drama, opera and ballet. Here have performed numerous international artists such as Franz Liszt, Richard Strauss, Laurence Olivier, José Carreras etc.
