Sitting atop Berg Hohenzollern on the western side of the Swabian Alps, approximately 50 kilometers south of Stuttgart is the Hohenzollern Castle. With over 300,000 visitors per year, it is one of the most visited castles in Germany and this is due to the undeniable beauty of the castle itself as well as its surroundings.

The castle was attacked and sometimes even completely destroyed several times during its life. The final castle that we can see today was constructed between 1846 and 1867 as a memorial to the family after it fell into disrepair as it was thought to not have any strategical importance anymore. Only written records exist of the original castle and it is speculated to date back to the 11th century and destroyed on May 15th, 1423.
