Hungary's national theatre

Budapest, Bajor Gizi park 1, 1095 Hungary

The National Theatre is located in the country’s capital, Budapest and originally opened in the year 1837 in another location. After changing locations on multiple occasions, the current theatre found its current home on March 15th, 2002 on the bank of the Danube river in the Ferencváros district near the Lágymánoyosi Bridge.

The park that surrounds the theatre contains many memorials in honour of Hungarian drama and film industries.

The inside of the theatre is decorated mostly in gold and bronze colours. To construct it, mostly natural materials were used such as granite, wood, wool, stone and more. The carpets and curtains were carefully made individually.
