Lake Bohinj

Lake Bohinj is a small, yet charming lake about 80 km from the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana. It is situated in a valley that stretches from Soteska to Ukanc.

The lake is an ideal attraction for families looking for both fun and relaxation. It offers many activities which you can partake in all year round. Summer activities include fishing, swimming, canoeing, and more. Additionally, you can take guided mountain bike and hiking tours on a beautiful trail around the lake. The countryside around the lake is definitely worth the visit. If you are lucky, you will even see some animals such as cows. During the winter, you can ice skate and sled on the lake. Wherever you look, you are surrounded by lush green forests and tall mountains with some snow at their peaks. Lake Bohinj is definitely worth the stop if you are in Slovenia and are an “outdoor person.” The drive is about one hour from Slovenia’s capital, Ljubljana. Lake Bohinj is often compared to Slovenia’s other big lake, Lake Bled, but is less crowded allowing for a more relaxing time.
