Maksimir Park is an amazing place where you’ll have an incredible time! It’s part of the city’s cultural heritage and it’s very well preserved and clean. It’s also known as the oldest public park in the city and the first big public park in South-Eastern Europe, so it has a rich history.
It was opened in 1794 and back then the part where it’s located was known as the outskirts of the city. The park is pretty big, cca. 4.07 square km, so there’s plenty of space for nice long walks, or even jogging if you prefer it. Zagreb’s Zoo is also located in this park, and there are plenty of beautiful animals outside of the Zoo as well (nothing dangerous though, don’t worry).
This is a peaceful place where both your mind and your soul can have a quiet and relaxing day.
The park has an Info centre where you can find their souvenir shop as well. You can also visit the gallery in Haulik’s salon at the Swiss House. There’s also an option for cycling, rowing, Nordic walking, and there are two playgrounds for children.
Maksimir Park is the perfect place for a family day-out. The park is beautiful, there are many things to do and it’s completely free! So pack your things and visit this gem!
