Day 7: Mt. Beatitudes, Tabgha, Primacy of Petros, Capernaum, and Yardenit Baptismal Site
Today we will visit the various pilgrim sites surrounding the Sea of Galilee in the footsteps of Yeshua.
Mt. Beatitudes: A magnificent serene hill overlooking the Sea of Galilee, where it is believed for the past 1,600 years by Christians, that this is the site where Yeshua delivered the Sermon on the Mountain. The exact location is uncertain but the present site is located above the ruins of an old monastery from the Byzantine era (4th C CE).
The present Franciscan octagonal church was built in 1938 designed by the famous Italian architect Antonio Barluzzi. It is situated amid beautiful terrace gardens, olive orchards, with an abundant variety of fruit trees and flowers.
There are several praying places around the site where groups can congregate for mass. Should you wish to conduct your commune at this site, do not forget to book a place in advance.
Along the paved sidewalks leading to the chapel, engraved on rocks, you will be able to read some of the Sermons delivered by Yeshua as mentioned in Matthew 5:1-11
By bus, taxi or guided tour.
