Nature Park Medvednica is a mountain north of Zagreb. Its highest peak Sljeme (1033m) is a popular vacation area, which can be reached by road or on foot hiking. Medvednica is 42 kilometers long and stretches in the direction northeast – southwest. The mountain is forested, which very rich flora and fauna. From 1981, the western part of Medvednica is declared a nature park. There are ski trails which are one of the locations for the FIS race (Snow Queen Trophy).
The forests of Medvednica go down almost to the very center of Zagreb. Apart from peace and greenery, the mountain is rich in specifics such as fortress Medvedgrad, Forest trail ‘Bliznec’ for people with disabilities, Veternica cave, medieval mines, Chapel.
