In the natural-geographic terms Koprivnica is located at the most suitable location, on the terrace to contact tertiary hills. The center of town was built on the site of the former Koprivnica fort. Quadrangular tower with corner bastions was built in the 16th century because of the Turkish threat, and the works were led by the famous architect Domenico Allio. From it are preserved today only remnants, two ravelin and one bastion. The central part of the fortress in the 19th century was replaced by a large park with a pavilion in the middle. The parish church of St. Nicholas is seen in a vista of a high tower, and dates from the 17th century. In the 19th century, got its present appearance. Koprivnica is hometown of Croatian Naive Art Movement. It’s symbol are roosters and bicycles.
