Paklenica National Park is the second national park in Croatia, inaugurated in October 19, 1949.
Basic phenomena of NP Paklenica are forests and geomorphological features of the park. In almost unforested southern part of Velebit mountain, Paklenica is accompanied by very richness of forest communities.
From the geomorphological characteristics most interesting and also the most impressive are canyons of Velika and Mala Paklenica which cut deep into the Velebit mountain. Paklenica annually attracts more than 100,000 visitors, and the most loyal visitors are climbers that from spring to autumn can be seen on the rocks of Paklenica, especially on the largest Croatian cliff Anica Kuk (712 m).
