Peričnik waterfall, within the Vrata alpine valley

You can walk behind the waterfall for a different viewpoint, although the rocks are very wet and slippery, so you have to be extremely careful.

One of the most known waterfalls of Slovenia is the Peričnik Waterfall, located within the Vrata alpine valley, in the Triglav National Park. The formation of the waterfall dates from the ice age.

The Peričnik Waterfall is divided into upper and lower parts. The upper part is a 16 meters single drop and the lower part is where the waterfall crashes into a wide 52 meters high wall.

The waterfall is impressive during the summer, but the most imposing sight of the Peričnik Waterfall is during winter when the lower part of the waterfall is frozen into beautiful icicles.

On the way to the waterfall, you will be able to have a fantastic view of Mt. Triglav, the emblem of Slovenia without any extra effort!
