Planica really comes to life in March when it hosts World Cup in Ski Jumps.

Planica, alpine valley at the edge of Slovenian border is a special place for Slovene people. But not for its beautiful natural environment or amazing sceneries but for one completely different reason. Ski jumping. Planica is a place of legendary ski jumping hill since year 1934. Every year the finals of Nordic ski jumping World Cup take place in Planica. There is a new Nordic centre (with large hill) in construction and in year 2015 (2016) Planica will hold probably the best Nordic centre in Europe.

Planica is a perfect destination for ski jumpers, cross country skiers and those who enjoy other winter sports or just want to enjoy in nature with a great view on Slovenian Alps.

Ski jumps have always been a huge part of this incredible place in Slovenian mountains. Whoever watched ski jumping competition had, no doubt, heard of Planica, Slovenia, and world record in the longest ski jump, which was once set here.

Planica was a proud owner of the biggest ski jumping hill (Vikersundbakken) and of the world record for the longest ski jump for many years. It is the place where the first ski jump over 100 meters happened and also where the first ski jump over 200 meters happened.

Winter centre Planica has gone through a crisis in recent years, as the vision for the best and biggest winter sports centre was not realised due to bad economy. Nevertheless, things seem to be getting better and many ski jump objects are now completely renovated and awaiting ski lovers and visitors.
Also, Planica found an equally demanding sport for the summer months. Red Bull is now traditionally organising a run to the top of the Planica jumping track, which includes 400 metres run on an incredible steep hill and on the start of jumping trail.

Planica is located in a valley in Julian Alps, next to Tamar valley and surrounded with some high mountains, among them: Visoka Ponca (2274 m), Ciprnik (1745 m), Sleme (1815 m), Mojstrovka (2366 m), Travnik (2379) and Jalovec (2645 m).

Planica offers a lot of activities in winter and summer time. It is surrounded with beautiful nature and it is especially great in summer heat, when temperatures stay around 20-25°C.
