Portorož sand beach is the main beach in the city of Portorož and it’s the biggest beach on the Slovenian coastline. Portorož beach is a regular award winner for the best beach in Slovenia. The interesting fact is that the sand is imported from other places as there is no natural sand in the Slovenian sea.

Portorož sand beach is a part of Portorož promenade and it is easily accessed from hotels and public transport, as well as from any other direction. The beach is surrounded with plenty of café’s, bars, restaurants and boutique shops that give Portorož a sense of a luxury destination. Beach itself is free (by law) but you have to pay for all the accessories. If you like more remote beaches there are plenty of other and perhaps even better options.

On a sand beach in Portorož everyone will find their own little piece of land – families will be happy to see there is a nice playground for kids, younger visitors will found many trendy bars around the beach, and a bit older visitors will enjoy the walk through market with various souvenirs, ice cream stands, and trendy restaurants.

Not only at day, Portorož sand beach is also great at night. Take a nice walk at the sunset, enjoy the sea breeze at your favourite bar, visit market and buy quirky souvenirs and head in one of the lively clubs on the beach.
