Primacy of Petros:
The Church of the Primacy of Petros (Aka Simon bar Yona), adjacent to the Church of the Multiplication, is traditionally considered to be the place where Yeshua appeared for the fourth time after his resurrection (John 21:1-24)
The modern church was built in 1933 and includes parts of an earlier 4th century church, destroyed by the Parthians, visible at the base of its walls, opposite the main altar.
Inside there is a prominent limestone rock in front of the present altar venerated as “Mensa Christi”, Latin for table of Christ. According to Christian tradition, this is the spot where Yeshua is said to have laid out a breakfast of bread and fish for the Apostles. (John 21:15-17)
