Railway museum started to operate in early 60’s. Over time, it was constantly updated and so it became a comprehensive museum in which you can see all different equipment and accessories, which are required in order that railway can operate undisturbed.
Buildings and rooms are separated by themes, and each theme fully covers its area. In the main building, you can see the collection of steam locomotives and other museum vehicles.
By walking through the themed rooms in next building, you will have the feeling that you are traveling through the history of Slovenian Railways. In first room there is presented smaller railway station from time of Austro-Hungarian Empire and the next room is representing the development of the rail network.
Then you will have the chance to see all the accessories and equipment for messages transmission, like telegraphs, telephones, teleprinters and FM radio stations. Special room is dedicated only for rail uniforms development trough time.
At the end of the visit, you can also see the art exhibition of works dedicated to the rail.

By the bus:
You can ride on the bus nr.11 (from city centre) and exit on Navje bus stop. Then continue on foot, go back to the main street, cross over, go straight ahead for 300 meters and then turn right on Parmova street and continue straight forward for 350 meters until you reach on your left side the railway museum.
By car:
Direction from city centre: drive along Dunajska cesta, after 1 km drive on Dunajska cesta, turn left for Bežigrad and then after 150 m turn again left on Parmova ulica and railway museum will be on your right side.
Direction from the highway:
Drive along Dunajska cesta (direction Centre), after 2,5 km drive on Dunajska cesta, turn right for Bežigrad and then after 150 m turn again left on Parmova ulica and railway museum will be on your right side.
