The tallest building in Budapest alongside the Parliament

Budapest, Szent István tér 1, 1051 Hungary
Entrance to the church is free, however, to go up to the dome, there is a fee to pay of 500 HUF.

Saint Stephen0s Basilica is the largest church in the Hungarian capital of Budapest and the third largest in the country. It is also one of the two tallest buildings in Budapest, alongside the Parliament building with a height of 96 meters. It dates back to the 19th century and it was built in honour of the first Christian king of Hungary, Stephen I.

Built in a Neo-Classical style, it was completed in 1905 by Joszef Kauser. Its dome can be accessed by climbing 364 stairs or, alternatively, taking a lift up to experience one of the best viewing points of Budapest.

The church is the host to many concerts and performances, especially contemporary, classical and choral. Most concerts are held on Thursday evenings and last a bit over an hour. On Fridays, shorter performances are held performed by András Varágh, which last no more than 15 minutes. For exact schedules, please visit their website.
