Sečovlje salt pans is part of a natural park area of 297ha and is a home to Slovenian salt industry. Sečovlje salt pans are the only remaining (functional) source of extracting salt from water in Slovenia. The first known document mentioning the salt pans in this region originate from your 804 DC.

Sečovlje salt pans are a part of a natural park and offers guest an authentic experience of nature, a natural habitat and a way of life of local people and salt pan workers. This natural environment is ideal for halophytes plants and various bird species.
Sečovlje salt pans is part of the Sečovlje Salina Nature Park. Park is dedicated to traditional salt production and unique nature that can only be found around the saline. Nature lovers will get the chance to observe dazzling bird species, other small animals and stunning plant species.
Other visitors, that will not spend all the time observing the nature, will be happy to notice information tables with in-deep information about salt production and its meaning. Sečovlje is full of organised walking and biking routes. Many other facilities, dedicated to salt production and to salt in general are available to visitors.
Drive from Portorož to Strunjan and follow direction to Slovenia-Croatia border. From here follow the signs for Soline.
