Slano Kopovo is a natural protected area in Vojvodina region. It is located near Novi Becej, more precisely north-east of Novi Bečej and Tisa River. It is one of the last preserved salt marshes in Serbia. Slano Kopovo is unique Pannonian habitat that is characterized by salty mud ponds and occasionally becomes a lake during the summer season are drying up. Slano Kopovo is priceless center of the salty-wetlands threatened with complete disappearance. It is on the list of Ramsar sites for the conservation and sustainable use of tresišta since 2000. In the past, the river Tisa frequently changed its bed and Slano Kopovo is one of its ancient meanders.
