Founded in 1880 at the initiative of the Arts Association

Trg maršala Tita 10, 10000, Zagreb, Croatia

This museum was founded back in 1880 and it was the first one of its kind in Europe.

The base idea for this museum was given by the Arts and Crafts movement in England. What you can find here are basic everyday items that could stand as a part of a display in a museum. What they wanted to acomplish here was to create an environment for preserving the traditional values of the crafts of the people, but creating a new aesthetic culture of the middle class was also a goal of theirs. So they created this museum, where they brought all elements of the everyday life together under one roof.

This museum could be considered as many smaller museums in one because some displays have so many items that they had to put them in separate (big) rooms, so now they stand there in their own space with their own theme.

If you decide to visit them, you’ll be able to check out many different time periods.

The museum also has its own library with over 65.000 volumes on its shelves! How amazing is that?!

This place is truly amazing. They keep on pushing their own limits just so they could better themselves in order to make their visitors happier and more interested in what they have to offer.

The price of their tickets is a bit higher than the average price, but considering how much they offer, it’s really worth it!
