A day trip in Munich, Germany

Munich is the largest city in the state of Bavaria in Germany, north of the beautiful Bavarian Alps and crossed by the river Isar. Munich is a major center of culture, arts, and tourism. A short walk from S-Bahn and U-Bahn Marienplatz station is the Cathedral of Our Lady, a landmark of Munich. The beautiful Gothic architecture is easily recognizable with its double domes.



Walk toward the center of the old town and you will find the main square of Munich: the Marienplatz. The New City Hall is a beautiful and impressive Gothic Revival architecture. The Rathaus-Glockenspiel from its tower, which chimes every day at 11 am and from noon to 5 pm in the summer, is one of the most interesting features of the building.



Nearby is the Old Town Hall of Munich, which served its purpose till 1874. Nowadays, an interesting Toy Museum is inside its tower.



Approximately 5 to 10 minutes walk through the lovely streets of Munich, you will reach the Staatliches Hofbräuhaus, a traditional restaurant also known as the royal brewery. The Staatliches Hofbräuhaus serves typical Bavarian dishes and the famous Hofbräu beer!



After such a fine meal, you can visit the Munich Residenz, the largest city palace in Germany and one of the largest in Europe. There is a museum and a treasury inside the palace. The court garden is also very beautiful.



To end your visit to Munich in beauty, have a nice and relaxing walk inside the Englischer Garten, a large public park in the center of Munich. From the park, it is possible to admire the beautiful skyline of Munich. Inside the Englischer Garten are many points of interest such as the Chinese tower and Beer Gardens.
