Top 6 Must-Visit Places in Kolkata

Kolkata, often known as the “City of Joy”, and formerly known as Calcutta, is the capital of West Bengal, a state in East of India. The city is located on the eastern bank of River Hooghly and is the oldest operating port of the country. Kolkata served as the capital of the country until 1911 when the capital was moved to New Delhi. Kolkata was also the epicenter of the Indian Independence Movement which led the independence of India from under the British Rule in 1947. Politics still remains a part of the everyday life of an average Kolkata resident.
