1. Enjoy a free live concert at Amoeba Music on Sunset Boulevard:

Amoeba Music, one of Hollywood’s original independent music shops, constantly hosts free concerts open to all ages at their location. The concerts include various genres from rock to electronic. Simply visit their website to check their calendar of events. No registration required!

2. Work on your summer body and take a hike at Temescal Canyon:

Temescal Canyon has a 3-mile loop with ocean, canyon, and even forest views. Along the way, you will come across a small waterfall. Also, there are several additional trails available off the main trail for those interested in extending their workout. If you choose to do this, be sure to check out the trail leading to Skull Rock! What is great about this park is that it’s a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles yet is also very conveniently located right off Sunset Blvd in the Pacific Palisades.

3. Star gaze and enjoy the Los Angeles skyline at the Griffith Observatory:

The Griffith Observatory attracts both crowds from around the world and Los Angeles locals. It is one of Los Angeles’ most praised attractions! Its main display is obviously its observatory and its astronomical exhibits, but its prime location above the Hollywood Hills also gives it the best view of the both Los Angeles skyline and Hollywood Sign. If you buy a postcard of the Los Angeles skyline, the photograph was most likely taken from the Griffith Observatory!

4. Be a part of a studio audience for your favorite T.V show:

Hollywood is home to the world’s best T.V. and movie studios. However, you do not necessarily have to be an actor or crew member to be on one of their sets! T.V. studios open their doors to the public daily for those interested in being part of a studio audience. All you need to do is check with the studios’ websites in advance to check their schedule and whether you need to RSVP. CBS Television City is home to shows such as The Price is Right and Real Time with Bill Maher.

5. Take a free outdoor yoga class at Runyon Canyon Park:

Come to Runyon Canyon park for yoga classes with professional instructors offered several times a week. All you need to do is bring your own mat! However, with this summer sun, you should probably also bring some water and sunscreen. If you are still feeling fit after the class, you can take a hike up the trail at Runyon Canyon. This trail is known for spotting celebrities. Just remember to check the Runyon Canyon YOGA Facebook page for schedule/class times.

6. Take a stroll at the Venice Canals:

The Venice Canals are man-made canals resembling those of Venice, Italy built by developer Abbot Kinney. It is a beautiful place to take a walk, but if you’re up to be a bit more active, you can even kayak down the canals. After your walk, visit Abbot Kinney Boulevard for a bite to eat and boutique shopping.

7. Window shop Rodeo Drive:

Rodeo Drive is the best spot in the world for day-dreaming and indulging luxury shopping! During your trip down Rodeo, make sure you stop to take pictures of the custom Rolls Royce Phantom outside of the store Bijan. If you’re lucky, your day of window shopping may turn even into celebrity spotting!

8. Take a look at the famous Space Shuttle Endeavour:

NASA has finally retired its Space Shuttle Endeavour and is now on display at its new home at the California Science Center. Admission to the museum’s permanent exhibition galleries is free. The shuttle’s first flight was in 1992 with the last in 2012.

9. Watch a movie for free at the Beverly Canon Gardens in Beverly Hills every Sunday:

The city of Beverly Hills is hosting free movie nights on a 20-feet inflatable screen at its Beverly Canon Gardens park this summer. All you need to do is show up and bring a blanket if you want to sit on the ground! Free parking is available in the Beverly Canon Gardens parking structure. All movies are family friendly.
 

10. Take a walking meditation by following the path of the Peace Awareness Labyrinth:
