Western (Wailing) Wall: or Ha Kotel in Hebrew is one of the symbols of Judaism, considered the second most holiest site for Judaism after Temple Mt. The Wall seen today by visitors and Jewish pilgrims, is part of a large massive stretch of wall which is a segment of the supporting wall of the Western side of the Holy Temple on top and a promenade below. The Holy Jewish Temple in Jerusalem destroyed by Titus in 70 CE.
The Western Wall is a remnant of Herod’s great temple, and is today the holiest site for Jews. It attracts daily and specially on High Holidays, thousands of Jewish worshippers who come to pray, and seek heavenly guidance. They feel the presence of God’s Holy Spirit who, according to their belief, once thousands of years ago, resided in the Holy Temple.
From here we continue our tour to visit some of the thrilling historical Archeological sites in and around the Old City of Jerusalem.
