The most famous park in Poland

ul. Agrykoli 1, 00-460 Warszawa

Łazienki Park, also called the Royal Baths Park, is the largest one in Warsaw, occupying 76 hectares of land in the center of the capital. It was designed back in the 17th century for one rich man. The word łazienki means ‘baths’, as it all started from the bathing pavilion built in 1680. Almost a hundred years later, the Polish King Stanislaw II Augustus bought this estate and remodeled the bathing pavilion into his summer residence. That’s how the Baths became Royal.

Now that building is called Łazienki Palace and is one of the most important things in the park. This beautiful construction is standing on an isle, surrounded by water, and is sometimes called the Palace on the Water. Apart from this one, there are many other interesting places in the park. For example, seeing an impressive Theater on the Isle is a must. It was inspired by the ancient Greek and Roman architecture, and has a stunning look.

Besides these, there are lots of other things to see: another palace, called Myślewicki Palace, two orangeries, the old one and the new one, and even two temples, one of them dedicated to the Roman goddess Diana, and another one in Egyptian style. The park is also full of different statues and monuments. They are so numerous it is almost impossible to see them all in one day.

The park has very relaxed and calm atmosphere. When walking there, you cannot believe that you are inside the busy 3-million city. The air is fresh, the nature is quiet and beautiful… Don’t forget to bring nuts – there are lots of squirrels which come very close and take nuts right from your hands. There are also peacocks walking around the park, so keep your camera ready and make nice photos!
